A: My most memorable job occurred when a family's furnace malfunctioned causing a "puff-back" that spread soot throughout the home. A huge clean-up was called for - I think this was one of the first jobs that I managed on my own. When I got to the house, the homeowner was very upset because she thought she had lost everything. Her children were crying hysterically because they did not want to let their stuffed animals go. I felt so bad that I promised the little girls that I would personally clean and restore their friends, and that everything would be returned to them as if nothing had ever happened. They felt such relief to hear that!
When I returned the cleaned order back to them, the first thing I brought in from the van was the bag of stuffed animals. I could not believe how happy those little girls were. The homeowner cried from happiness when everything came back looking so clean and smelling so fresh. She gave me a big hug and said, "Thank you very much for all your help. You are our hero." I will never forget that job. It made me realize how important my job is to the people we are helping.
Q: What is something you are very proud of?
A: I am proud to be part of Fabric Renewal. It's a company that is always looking for ways to improve customer service, to provide great benefits and opportunities for their employees, and of course, to constantly develop better ways to help restore people's lives.
Q: Tell me about a time you surprised yourself.
A: I remember one incident that occurred early on in my career. I was talking to someone at another restoration company about cleaning and pressing some specialty fabrics. This person had been in the industry for a long time, and was obviously very proud of all the knowledge he had acquired. At the end of the conversation, I really surprised myself, because I realized that in just a few short years at Fabric Renewal, I gained much more knowledge than a person who had spent his entire career in the business! I felt very proud of myself and of the company I work for because we do things so differently here. We seem to care more about our customers and take the greatest amount of pride in our profession.
